Montessori



Aiden started a Montessori School this past spring. The Montessori Method focuses on creating an environment that helps children best develop their potential ability for the person they will become. It is an environment set-up specifically for the child. It is designed to take full advantage of the child's desire to learn and their unique ability to develop their own capabilities.

Aiden loves he’s teachers and his schoolmates. I am told that Aiden is very smart (but I already knew that!) and the only kid that follows along during singing time and knows all the songs. Aiden loves to sing and count and do other activities at school. His teachers are Miss Amanda, Miss Katie, and Miss Andrea. He does several activities that focus on developing hand eye coordination and sensory skills. They also teach that things have an order and to take responsibility. He also is learning his ABC’s and how to count. He can already count to 10!

Aiden came running in our room at 5:27am!! And said “it’s time to get up mommy!!”

We were watching the Trampoline Olympics and Sam said “holy cow!” Aiden looked at Sam and said “we don’t say that word Sammy, we say oh darn it!”

I said something that hurt Aiden’s feelings, and I said “awe, I’m sorry”, he turned and looked at me and said “mom, don’t talk like a baby!”

I was laying on the couch and Aiden came over and gave me a raspberry on my tummy and said “ew mom! The baby farted!!”

I told Aiden something was Bear’s and he said to me “Actually, mom, it’s not”

We were driving home from Grandma’s and Aiden’s favorite song came on (Big girls don’t cry by Fergie), I was singing along and Aiden said “don’t sing mom! I’m singing it!”

It was about 2:30 am and Aiden came screaming into our room and said “mommy the sandman is in my room!” I thought it was a cute story that would help him go to sleep!

We were in the grocery store and Aiden saw some lunchables, so I let him have some as a snack, and he said “just like Dylan’s, thanks mom!” it reminded me of the kid on the bus who’s mom finally sent him lunchables and he jumped up and yelled out the window “thanks mom!!”

Michael and I have a terrible habit of drinking Pepsi and Aiden of course wants to drink it too. To deter him we told him it tasted like pooh pooh, so now he says “I want a pooh pooh drink!” well, we thought we’d trick him again so Michael took a drink and said “oh! I have a belly ache!!” Now when Aiden drinks something like sprite he looks at us, clenches his stomach and says “oh! I have a belly ache!!”

When Aiden is naughty I tell him he has 3 seconds to stop or he’ll have a certain consequence, I look at him and say “one, two…” he looks at me and says “2 and a half, 2 and three quarters…..” and laughs

Yesterday I told Aiden I would make him a tortilla and cheese, and I said if I do that will you eat your chicken? He looked at me and said “probably not”

This morning Aiden was putting on his shoes (by himself of course) and the tongue kept getting caught, Aiden grunted and said “I’m freaking me nuts!”

Interesting tid bits about us

1. What is his name? Michael Glenn Thomas, named after his grandfather Glennwood. I call him darling, dear, honey, lover, and baby.

2. Who eats more? Me! When I’m done eating Michael start’s giving me more food to eat. I always ask him why and he says “have you seen yourself when you have low blood sugar!!!”

3. Who said I love you first? Michael did by accident over the phone, we were saying bye, he said “love you bye!” after we hung up I pinged him over IM and said I love you too! He was soo embarrassed!

4. Who is taller? Michael by almost a foot!!

5. Who is smarter? Really depends on the subject, but as our daughter Becca eloquently puts it Michael is a “know it all” and he really is… I’m constantly amazed by the things he knows!

7. Who does the laundry? Michael! Fabric softener, stain remover, woolite vs. detergent, separating cloths… way too complicated for me. I throw everything in together with the cheapest detergent I can find, so Michael doesn’t allow me to wash our cloths. And he can always tell if I did while he was out of town!

8. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? If you are standing at the foot of the bed facing the head board I do, otherwise it is Michael. I always sleep on his side of the bed when he is out of town.

9. Who pays the bills? Me of course!! Michael wouldn’t know what to do with himself he if had to keep track of that many bills! We are maintaining two households so we get double the mortgage bills, double utilities, etc!!

10. Who cooks more? I confess Michael cooks more than I do, but only because he is so much better. Plus he likes me to have that time with Aiden because he is such a sweet heart!

11. What meals do you cook together? Umm… nothing specifically comes to mind, but I almost always make the salads and veggies we eat with the main course

12. Who is more stubborn? Michael hands down!

13. Who is the first to admit they're wrong? Me of course!

14. Who has more siblings? Me, I have 4 sisters and 3 brothers, Michael has two sisters and two brothers

15. Who wears the pants in the relationship? We both do, it is a partnership

16. What do you like to do together? We love to cuddle on the couch, go to a good movie and our all time favorite thing to do together is ride the motorcycle!!

17. Who eats more sweets? Michael! He has a sweet tooth like no body else.

18. Favorite sweets? His are chocolate cake, gummy bears, and chocolate covered raisins and nuts, mine are peanut m&m’s, sour patch kids, and starburst

19. Guilty pleasures? His is internet shopping I think… mine is celebrity gossip!!

20. How did you meet? We met at work, a company called iBAHN, we worked together for 3 years before dating.

21. Who asked who out first? Technically Michael

22. Who kissed who first? I kissed Michael first, but he’d been trying for days but I wouldn’t kiss him, when I was ready I laid one on him, pretty sure he was surprised.

23. Who proposed? Of course it was Michael

24. His best features? Chest, Abs, and lips

25. His best personality traits? He is very sensitive to what you need and works hard to make sure you are happy and comfortable!

Happy 39th Birthday Michael!!!

Michael turned 39 this year! We took a half day off work and took the motorcycle up to parkcity. We ate ice cream cones as we took a stroll up famous main street window shopping. While walking, we happened to pass our favorite shop – the Harley-Davidson store. Unfortunetly they had no bikes only Harley-Davidson accessories and clothing. Afterwards we took the ski lift up the mountain, it was georgeous! After our ride we had dinner at the resurant we fell in love at, Robert Redford's "Zoom". Afterwards we had a small celebration at home. It was a lot of fun, hope you had a happy birthday Michael!

August 10th, 2008

Today Michael received the Aaronic Priesthood. It was an incredible experience for me, and I had a hard time holding back the tears. My patriarchal blessing promised me that I would be married to a righteous priesthood holder and today I felt that blessing being fulfilled. Later that evening the Elders Quorum president came over. He said that one of the gifts he received in his calling was the gift of discernment. He said he felt a very strong impression that Michael would be a leader in the church and that he felt Michael was very special. I knew Michael would be a great priesthood holder even before we were engaged. I am so proud of the husband and father he is. I love you darling!!
