4 Months!

Michael David is getting bigger every day and every day I fall more in love with my little darling. Michael David is now 4 months old and so advanced according to his doctor. Michael is 26 inches long! putting him in the 82nd percentile for height and 15.06 lbs putting him in the 49th percentile for weight.

Some of Michael David’s milestones include:

Rolling over – tummy to back and back to tummy He’s trying to scoot although he’s not particularly fond of tummy time!

He is very talkative and often sings out.

He sucks his thumb and will chew on anything he can get his little hands on.

He had his first solid food on 11/19 which was oatmeal. He had no problems eating it although he didn’t seem to like the taste so much. Since then he’s had sweet potatoes and bananas both of which he enjoys very much. He’s had carrots and green beans – he gagged on the green beans, I gather he didn’t like the way those tasted at all!

Some of the cute things he does is stick his tongue out and blow raspberries – a trick his daddy taught him. He plays peek-a-boo, another trick he learned from dad. He pulls the blanket over his face, when you say “where’s Michael” he pulls the blanket down and bursts out into laughter.

He is a very active boy and enjoys playing in his little jump up toy and his exersaucer. He also loves to watch the wiggles.

Lately he’s become more of a mommy’s boy- which I love. When I walk by him in his jump up toy he jumps so high you think he may come out because he is so excited to see me. He will also stretch out both arms toward me to let me know he wants to be picked up!

He sighs really loud when he yawns and it is just darling.

He also LOVES his grandma Robbins and get’s so excited when he sees her in the morning.

He is absolutely fascinated by Aiden and enjoys watching Aiden running around and play with his toys. Aiden does a great job entertaining the baby and the two of them laugh and have a great time together.

Michael has lost the hair on either side of his head and now appears to have a true Mohawk. Of course everyone comments on how adorable it is. He’s also starting to get a bald spot on the back of his head. His hair is growing back in and appears to be blond – his eyes are also still blue.

Last night Michael slept for 5 consecutive hours!!!

Saint Louis…

We took a road trip to Saint Louis in October to spend some time with the kids and Michael’s folks. We had a great time! They say a picture is worth a thousand words so rather than recap the trip the pix below outline some of the highlights.

Grandpa Thomas with his youngest grandchild - Michael David Thomas

Grandma Thomas loves babies - Michael konked rightout while Grandma was holding him

Baby girl with baby boy

One of Aiden's favoite things to do while we were there was helping Grandpa!

Aiden's best pals at Grandma and Grandpa's were the dogs - Rocky was his favoriate and they spent endless hours running around the yard.

Need I say anything?? Lol!

Matt was really proud of himself for getting Rocky to shake his hand

Dawson's all time favorite activity was playing the Wii, especially with his Dad. Dawson and I played a few games but I had a hard time keeping up!! His favorite game with me was a fitness test where my age came out at about 86!! In my defense I was fending off kids while trying to do the test!

The kids always love riding around in the golf cart! Samantha is such a good driver an will have her learners permitt in less than a year!

Here's the Thomas Family baseball team!! You can tell these boys mean business!

You can't see the ball in either picture - Danny is very serious about playing catch. Here he was hollering at the boys as he throws the ball, it was such a riot!

The bat was a little big for Aiden but he still got some good hits in!

no comment needed here - just a cute pix of the kids!

Daddy's baby girl turned 14 this year!! And has already reported that she has a boyfriend, watch out daddy!

School Celebrations!

October was a fun month for Aiden because he was able to celebrate his birthday and Halloween (his favorite holiday) with his friends at school!

For his birthday we made him a poster with pictures from each year of his life with comments on what his interests were each year and mile stones he achieved. It is tradition for each child to do a “walk around the sun” on their birthday in class while their class mates say what they like about the student.

On Halloween the students got to wear their Halloween costumes to school. They did a parade around the different class rooms showing off their cute costumes and then had a party back in their class. Aiden had a ball doing this!

Happy Halloween!

This was the very first year we didn’t trick-or-treat with the Graves and we missed them! Of course Aiden dressed up as Darth Vader and we dressed Michael up as a pony. Michael and I wanted to go as Han Solo and Princess Leia but we were out of town half the month and were never able to make our costumes. Aiden was a little disappointed that we didn’t dress up but we’ll do better next year.

We were lucky to get pumpkins on our porch given that we were out of town. We finally carved them today and had a great time doing it. Baby Michaels pumpkin was hard as a rock so we ended up drawing a face on his.

We hit about 10 houses in the neighborhood and Aiden was ready to head home. After eating half his candy though he was ready to hit the street again.

Sam had purchased a costume for Maggie and took Aiden out for a second round of trick-or-treating. He was so excited to show the neighbors Maggie’s costume.

Happy Birthday Aiden!!

This year my first born turned four years old!! We had just got back from a long drive back from Missouri and had not had a chance to even get presents so we celebrated a day late. I had originally planned on having his first ever friend birthday party but I left the invitations in UT and it was too late to invite anyone when we got home.

Aiden is really into Star Wars these days so we had a Star Wars party. He absolutely loved the cake because it came with a toy Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker both had light sabers that light up!

In spite of not having a friend party, Aiden was completely spoiled with the gifts he received. Michael and I both agreed that next year we would spend half his birthday money on cloths vs. all on toys!

I am so happy to have Aiden in my life and it is amazing to me how much he has grown. I am grateful for every day we’ve had together and I cherish every memory I have.

Pumpkin Patch!!

This year we continued our standing tradition of going through farmer Grant’s pumpkin patch with the Graves family! It seems to be harder with each passing year to get the boys to cooperate with us on the picture taking.

Aiden, Bear and Lyon ran ahead almost the entire time through the maze.

Michael picked out the baby’s very first pumpkin!

It is amazing to me how much Aiden has grown since we started this tradition and I'm so happy that we were able to continue with baby Michael this year.

2 months!!

It’s so fun to watch our little pumpkin grow – they change so much week to week and every stage is fun to watch. Michael is growing like a weed, literally! At his two month appointment he weighed in at 11.46 lbs – in the 44th percentile and measured in at 24 inches – in the 92nd percentile!!! Michael is so long he is already starting to wear 3-6 month clothing. He is much taller than his cousin that is a month older!

Michael is laughing more and more now and it is so fun to watch! He’s also started his oral fixation and is often trying to cram both hands in his mouth at the same time! Michael is talking more and loves to be talked too. He has very expressive eyes and raises his eyebrows when he is excited – one of my favorite things to see.

He is definitely a daddy’s boy. He often looks around the room for daddy when he hears his voice and will stare at him until he gets the attention he is looking for. He doesn’t respond to anyone else in the quite the same way that he does his Daddy.

Annie reports that he has rolled over twice!! We are so sad we missed it – one of the hardest things about being a working mom! He can also scoot around in a circle –he is very strong and will be scooting around in no time!!

Michael David's Baby Blessing

Earlier this month we blessed are darling sweet baby. It was particularly special because Michael was able to bless our little angel. It was a beautiful blessing – some of the things he was blessed with were:

To have joy in life and in serving our heavenly father, to find a companion in life to love and share joy with, knowledge needed to provide for his family and to be a witness of the Lord, to grow strong, to have a good heart and feel love for the brethren in the church, and to go to the temple.

We tried to get pictures of Michael in his blessing outfit which he was not thrilled about so this is the best one we have.

"I want to ride my bicycle!"

This spring I told Aiden if he learned how to petal his three-wheeler I’d buy him a bike. Well he did it so we headed over to Wal-mart to pick up a bike. He tried the bike out for size in the store and realized that pedaling the bike was a little trickier and soon lost interest. Besides all his friends had scooters so we decided to go with that and he has had fun all summer long with it.

He has gotten really good with it and I’m impressed with the tricks he shows me. Now that the summer is almost over he did get his bike and I have to say is a natural on it! He brought it home, jumped on and took off. I struggle every night trying to get him off! He’s been pretty good about following the helmet rule although periodically mentions so and so isn’t wearing one. I quickly remind him that I’m not their mom and that those are our rules and he is pretty good with it.

(Yes that is the baby crying in the background! He was gasy and nothing was helping so we decided to try sitting outside, he did calm down! :))

Aiden-isms!

One morning I was taking Aiden to school and a truck passed me and merged into my lane and Aiden said “Mom you are driving too slow!!”

Aiden’s teacher, Miss Amanda, told me she asked Aiden what his baby brother’s name was and he responded back “Spiderman!” She asked multiple times and got the same response each time.

I bought Aiden an Obi Wan action figure as a reward, I was teasing him when we got in the car and asked if I could play with it, he gave me a funny look and said “No, but you can play with the box.”

Aiden refers to everything in the past as “Yesterday!” He said to me this morning “Mom, do you remember yesterday when I was hiding behind your chair and the policeman came?” This happened a few months ago when Aiden hid from us one morning – we tore the house apart searching from him (except behind this chair) and I called the police when I couldn’t find him!

I can’t sleep until the kids are asleep, so after bed time stories I’ll check in on Aiden 30 mins or so later to make sure he is asleep, last night when I checked in on him he was still awake. I was holding baby Michael and Aiden wanted to kiss him goodnight, he leaned over and whispered in his ear “I hope you are a Jedi!”

I make Aiden wash his hands every time he’s done playing with Maggie. I always make him let me smell his hands when he’s done washing to make sure he’s used soap. Saturday he came in and said “mom I don’t have to wash my hands, smell them! Maggie washed them for me!”

Aiden is a social butterfly, as soon as he gets home he wants to play with his friends, he’ll say “Can I play with Spencer Mom? Can I, Can I, Please can I?”

Aiden is trying to understand family relations and he frequently asks me “Mom, is Bear my sister?” because he keeps forgetting the term is Cousin!!

I never knew that there was so much drama among 3 year old boys –Aiden will come home and say “Charlie’s my best friend!” then the next day he’ll say “Charlie’s not my friend anymore”. According to his teacher all the boys get into fights each day about who is who’s friend.

We call it puppy love!

Having a new puppy is an adventure even if it is vicarious. It is very similar to having a new baby really. For the first few weeks Maggie was up all hours of the night. It was rather comical to see how tired Sam was being up with his “baby”. Maggie kept him up a lot more than Michael ever kept us up. Luckily she is sleeping through the night now… mostly…

I thought that I’d take her for walks in the morning and get some exercise in. Who knew a puppy had to be leash trained?! I put her on her leash and she sat down, I had to pull her like a mule. I got maybe 2 feet at best and said to heck with that! Sam has been working with her everyday and she’s getting better on the leash although she still chews on it.

It is so funny to hear Sam talk about his walks with Maggie, he said she wanders and has a hard time focusing…. That sounds just like going for walks with Aiden!! She also gets tired sometimes and he has to carry her home!!! LOL!!

Aiden absolutely loves Maggie. He does get competitive with her though. When Sam takes them to the park together Aiden always wins at getting the Frisbee and has a hard time letting Maggie have a turn. They have a lot of fun running around and wrestling each other and it is so fun to watch!

Tomorrow Maggie starts obedience school – Sam will be taking Aiden to class with him to work with Maggie, I am hoping that they will teach Aiden to be obedient too!!
