Happy Birthday Aiden!!

This year my first born turned four years old!! We had just got back from a long drive back from Missouri and had not had a chance to even get presents so we celebrated a day late. I had originally planned on having his first ever friend birthday party but I left the invitations in UT and it was too late to invite anyone when we got home.

Aiden is really into Star Wars these days so we had a Star Wars party. He absolutely loved the cake because it came with a toy Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker both had light sabers that light up!

In spite of not having a friend party, Aiden was completely spoiled with the gifts he received. Michael and I both agreed that next year we would spend half his birthday money on cloths vs. all on toys!

I am so happy to have Aiden in my life and it is amazing to me how much he has grown. I am grateful for every day we’ve had together and I cherish every memory I have.

Pumpkin Patch!!

This year we continued our standing tradition of going through farmer Grant’s pumpkin patch with the Graves family! It seems to be harder with each passing year to get the boys to cooperate with us on the picture taking.

Aiden, Bear and Lyon ran ahead almost the entire time through the maze.

Michael picked out the baby’s very first pumpkin!

It is amazing to me how much Aiden has grown since we started this tradition and I'm so happy that we were able to continue with baby Michael this year.

2 months!!

It’s so fun to watch our little pumpkin grow – they change so much week to week and every stage is fun to watch. Michael is growing like a weed, literally! At his two month appointment he weighed in at 11.46 lbs – in the 44th percentile and measured in at 24 inches – in the 92nd percentile!!! Michael is so long he is already starting to wear 3-6 month clothing. He is much taller than his cousin that is a month older!

Michael is laughing more and more now and it is so fun to watch! He’s also started his oral fixation and is often trying to cram both hands in his mouth at the same time! Michael is talking more and loves to be talked too. He has very expressive eyes and raises his eyebrows when he is excited – one of my favorite things to see.

He is definitely a daddy’s boy. He often looks around the room for daddy when he hears his voice and will stare at him until he gets the attention he is looking for. He doesn’t respond to anyone else in the quite the same way that he does his Daddy.

Annie reports that he has rolled over twice!! We are so sad we missed it – one of the hardest things about being a working mom! He can also scoot around in a circle –he is very strong and will be scooting around in no time!!

Michael David's Baby Blessing

Earlier this month we blessed are darling sweet baby. It was particularly special because Michael was able to bless our little angel. It was a beautiful blessing – some of the things he was blessed with were:

To have joy in life and in serving our heavenly father, to find a companion in life to love and share joy with, knowledge needed to provide for his family and to be a witness of the Lord, to grow strong, to have a good heart and feel love for the brethren in the church, and to go to the temple.

We tried to get pictures of Michael in his blessing outfit which he was not thrilled about so this is the best one we have.

"I want to ride my bicycle!"

This spring I told Aiden if he learned how to petal his three-wheeler I’d buy him a bike. Well he did it so we headed over to Wal-mart to pick up a bike. He tried the bike out for size in the store and realized that pedaling the bike was a little trickier and soon lost interest. Besides all his friends had scooters so we decided to go with that and he has had fun all summer long with it.

He has gotten really good with it and I’m impressed with the tricks he shows me. Now that the summer is almost over he did get his bike and I have to say is a natural on it! He brought it home, jumped on and took off. I struggle every night trying to get him off! He’s been pretty good about following the helmet rule although periodically mentions so and so isn’t wearing one. I quickly remind him that I’m not their mom and that those are our rules and he is pretty good with it.

(Yes that is the baby crying in the background! He was gasy and nothing was helping so we decided to try sitting outside, he did calm down! :))

Aiden-isms!

One morning I was taking Aiden to school and a truck passed me and merged into my lane and Aiden said “Mom you are driving too slow!!”

Aiden’s teacher, Miss Amanda, told me she asked Aiden what his baby brother’s name was and he responded back “Spiderman!” She asked multiple times and got the same response each time.

I bought Aiden an Obi Wan action figure as a reward, I was teasing him when we got in the car and asked if I could play with it, he gave me a funny look and said “No, but you can play with the box.”

Aiden refers to everything in the past as “Yesterday!” He said to me this morning “Mom, do you remember yesterday when I was hiding behind your chair and the policeman came?” This happened a few months ago when Aiden hid from us one morning – we tore the house apart searching from him (except behind this chair) and I called the police when I couldn’t find him!

I can’t sleep until the kids are asleep, so after bed time stories I’ll check in on Aiden 30 mins or so later to make sure he is asleep, last night when I checked in on him he was still awake. I was holding baby Michael and Aiden wanted to kiss him goodnight, he leaned over and whispered in his ear “I hope you are a Jedi!”

I make Aiden wash his hands every time he’s done playing with Maggie. I always make him let me smell his hands when he’s done washing to make sure he’s used soap. Saturday he came in and said “mom I don’t have to wash my hands, smell them! Maggie washed them for me!”

Aiden is a social butterfly, as soon as he gets home he wants to play with his friends, he’ll say “Can I play with Spencer Mom? Can I, Can I, Please can I?”

Aiden is trying to understand family relations and he frequently asks me “Mom, is Bear my sister?” because he keeps forgetting the term is Cousin!!

I never knew that there was so much drama among 3 year old boys –Aiden will come home and say “Charlie’s my best friend!” then the next day he’ll say “Charlie’s not my friend anymore”. According to his teacher all the boys get into fights each day about who is who’s friend.
