Off the Florida Keys…

For my birthday, mother’s day, and our wedding anniversary Michael whisked me away to Key West Florida for a romantic getaway. We got a great recommendation from Michael’s boss to fly into Miami and drive through the Key’s in a convertible.

We had a blast, one breath taking view after the next that is of course after we got out of Miami rush hour traffic! It was great driving through the Everglades although we didn’t see any gators! It has a wonderful scent of sulfur which in my pregnant state I found to be absolutely heavenly. We also watched the sunset over the Gulf of Mexico, which was absolutely stunning.

We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at our hotel and found we were upgraded to a suite which was the most gorgeous place we’ve stayed in. The suite normally runs $300 a night or a total value of $700! Because we were upgraded to a suite there was a refrigerator, we were able to purchase groceries so we wouldn’t have to spend money eating lunch and snacks.

Since Michael is platinum so we also got free breakfast every morning which is a $35 dollar value for 4 days for a total value of $140. We also came down on free flights which normally run $605 per person and also cashed in a $75 gift certificate from Hertz to pay for our rental car and over the weekend we’ve been spending our $75 Marriott gift certificate on dinners. The total value of all these free bees is $2700!

The third trimester

It’s amazing how your pregnancy changes, almost as if by overnight, as you enter the third trimester. You suddenly feel a little more tired, you get sudden hot flashes, and you feel as if your belly will bust at the seams. It is the beginning of many many sleepless nights. I am convinced the third trimester is intended to make you so miserable that you are motivated to give birth!

One thing really different about this pregnancy than my pregnancy with Aiden is that everything I eat gives me heart burn! I also get nausea occasionally. I am just as ornery though :)

My cravings lately are golden delicious apples with peanut butter and cereal in whole milk with bananas. Clearly I am pregnant because aside from the apples I don’t normally care for those things. I also have been dying to have some watermelon, but I always crave that!

The baby is getting more and more active; I am often torn on if I think he is break dancing or having a seizure. I always tease Michael that this little boy will be just as rambunctious as Aiden

The Zoo!

Last summer I wanted to take Aiden to the zoo, we had such a blast with Rose and Bear the year before, but for one reason or another we never made it. Spring break was coming and so Michael and I decided to take a day off work to go to the zoo. I ended up having to work most of the day on an emergency project, Michael and Aiden were in pretty good spirits about it. Finally we made it to the zoo! Apparently every other parent had the same idea we did about the zoo because it was really crowed!

It was fun to watch the elephants eat, the zoo had the hay hanging from a rope up high so they had to stretch out their trunks to reach it.

We got up close and personal with the giraffe’s in the giraffe house.

Aiden’s top two favorite things at the zoo were “riding Marty!” and riding the train.

Many of the animals weren’t out this early in the season so we will have to venture back again this summer!

Easter in Utah!!

Easter in Utah couldn’t come soon enough. I thought that Easter was in March this year and told Aiden all about Easter so for several weeks he kept asking if it was Easter yet! Finally it was Easter eve and we were ready to dye eggs. Michael showed Aiden how to dunk the eggs in dye. We had a blast!

Aiden didn’t sleep a wink Easter eve and had me and Michael out of bed at 6 am! I had my heart set on having an Easter egg hunt outside but it was a cold weekend and snowed so we did the hunt in our living room.

Aiden got a Spiderman helmet, Harley sunglasses and a Harley watch in his Easter basket, all of which were big hits!

Aiden enjoyed finding eggs, especially the plastic ones!

Happy Easter Saint Louis!!

This year Michael celebrated Easter a little early with the Thomas kids. When he picked up the boys they were both running high fevers and were not feeling well. Poor Danny threw up in the car twice on the way to Grandma and Grandpa’s. Michael had to give Matt Tylenol every 4 hours or his fever would spike again, needless to say Michael didn’t sleep much. By 5am Matt had soaked his cloths with sweat. To cheer the boys up, Michael gave the boys their Easter bags early.

Matt clenched onto his Easter bag and bunny and didn’t let it go the whole weekend.

Samantha and Dawson also enjoyed their Easter gifts, particularly Dawson who got speakers for his iPOD. Michael had to keep telling him to turn his music down.

More Aiden-isms…

The other day Aiden brought home a baby doll from Grandma’s house. He swaddled him in a blanket and took him into his room for bedtime stories. He explained to me that his name was Ryan. After the story he told me “Ryan loved it mom!” Then he showed Ryan how to be reverent for prayers. I tucked them both in Aiden’s bed , kissed Aiden and said “good-night, Aidy-Baby,” to which he responded, “I’m a big brother now mom!”
Are you Kidding me?!

April showers bring May flowers, what does April snow bring??? Ruined Tulips?! We’ll see if they survive the snow fall we received today....
